Church Building Re-opens for Individual Private Prayer
I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD!”
The church family will be delighted to learn that the Government has now permitted church buildings to reopen for individual private prayer.
All Saints church building will therefore be open for this purpose only, from Monday, June 15th. Initially, this will be from 9am-1pm, Monday to Friday and those who make use of the building are asked to ensure they observe common sense social distancing measures.
Funerals are also now permitted to take place in church buildings from June 15th, but government guidance continues to emphasise that these should involve very limited numbers. Regretfully, the Government has not yet permitted weddings to take place, though strong representations are being made to it by the bishops and individuals. The bishop of Chichester has emphasised that no form of liturgical service led by an ordained minister is permitted to take place in reopened church buildings for the time being - the reopening is for individual private prayer only.
The Church Office will continue to be closed to visitors for the time being, but the Office team can be contacted either by phone or e mail.
